On the 22nd anniversary of the "prison massacre" of political prisoners by the then authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Society for Human Rights in Iran - Southern California has organized an evening of remembrance. In August 1988 Iranian authorities began a wave of secret, summary and mass executions of political prisoners which continued for several months. Even though the actual number is not known it is estimated that between 4500 to 5000 prisoners have been killed. This commemoration is an attempt to remember those who's lives were so unjustly and brutally taken during those several months and call for those responsible for such atrocity to be held accountable. Those responsible for one of the worst crimes committed in Iran should be prosecuted and tried before an impartial court in accordance with international fair trial standards. There should be no impunity for such gross human rights violations, regardless of when they were. Please join us to hear first hand account of those events and the efforts to seek justice! Speakers: Mojdeh Arasi & Homayoon Eivani, survivors of the massacre &activist in Prison Tales Music: Tar & vocal performances Where: UCLA, Dodd Hall When: September 26th at 3:30pm
